RESOLUTE communicates using pure digital serial signals, for higher operating speeds and improved ruggedness against EM interference. For additional safety of operation, all RESOLUTE protocols include Cyclic Redundancy Check (a method to check that serial words have been correctly received) and provide comprehensive alarm information.
RESOLUTE is available with a variety of protocols, of both ‘open’ and ‘proprietary’ types, to enable connection to a wide range of industry-standard controllers. New protocols are being added to RESOLUTE, so please contact your local Renishaw representative for the latest updates. Open protocol options for RESOLUTE absolute encoders
Renishaw supports BiSS® C (uni-directional) open protocol for absolute encoders. BiSS is a high-speed serial protocol, perfect for dynamic axes that require high acceleration, silky-smooth velocity control, excellent bi-directional repeatability and rock-solid positional stability. BiSS has been adopted by controller manufacturers and motion system builders serving markets as wide-ranging as semiconductor, FPD and P-V manufacturing, military and aerospace systems, and general motion control applications. Currently 156 BiSS device manufacturers have licensed the free of charge BiSS interface IPs, services and tools. BiSS advantages:
Read more about BiSS open protocol and download the RESOLUTE BiSS absolute optical encoder protocol data sheet. BiSS® is a registered trademark of iC-Haus GmbH Note: The phrase ‘uni-directional’ in the name BiSS C (unidirectional) refers to the arrangement where data is being transmitted from the encoder to the controller only. This protocol does NOT limit motion of an axis to a single direction. This protocol does NOT have any negative implications upon bi-directional repeatability of an axis. Proprietary protocol options for RESOLUTE absolute encoders
All proprietary protocols used on RESOLUTE are owned by controller manufacturers and are licensed to multiple encoder manufacturers. Read more about proprietary protocols available for RESOLUTE absolute optical encoders. Data sheetsInstallation guides
